I’m not a doctor, but I am a health statistician. So a new study out of the USA (Estados Unidos as my maid calls it) is not surprising at all. It shows that the overall health risks of being overweight are overstated, and that in certain cases being overweight is associated with less risk of death (emphysema, pneumonia, injuries, and various infections). It’s long been known that plump people are far less likely to die in car accidents than skinny people (but the risk goes back up as you get superfat), so the idea that other conditions have lower death rates for overweight people shouldn’t come as a shock.
So don’t order the Triple Whopper or Baconator there fatty, but go ahead and have a Whopper, just hold the mayo.
P.S. Burger King is the shit, but the only one close to me is in the Hospital for Sick Children. Why do you hate downtown Toronto Burger King?
